Are Preppers Deviant Members of Society?

We were asked by Professor Ed Rawlinson from St. Thomas University in New Brunswick Canada to participate in an online recorded interview for his students as part of a sociology class he is teaching on Deviance.

Preppers fall in the realm of Deviance because they represent a subculture that is a relatively small percentage of the population. We find it amusing that preparing for emergencies and being self-reliant is considered deviant in our society.

In this video, we answer follow-up questions submitted by the students in this class. Unfortunately, we had an issue with our camera overheating and it ruined the footage in the middle of the video. Our apologies to the students who didn’t get their questions answered and for the audio and video being out of sync in part of the video.
