Prepping for deer season at the off grid weekend homestead turned hunting camp

Welcome to the weekend homestead! This week my Amish shed tiny cabin turned into the off grid hunting camp. In this episode of Up North- Off Grid I’m doing some last minute checks of deer stands to prepare for the upcoming whitetail deer hunting opener. Everything looked good aside from some shooting lane maintenance and setting up the ground blind. For many years I’ve wanted to try to grow garlic. I finally put some in the ground for next year. I never knew there were so many different varieties and flavor nuances of garlic! I’m excited to see what comes up. A sharp saw chain made short work of a poplar and oak log netting me some nice slabs for projects to come. That Alaskan mill is worth every penny. I hope you enjoy this trip up to the off grid cabin. River dog says “Hi”!
